Inauguration Day in DC

Washington, DC saw an unprecedented number of visitors today, and yours truly went out to take some photos throughout the morning. Trying to get to and from anywhere downtown was a daunting task as crowds headed south towards the National Mall and the parade route along Pennsylvania Avenue.

I wasn't able to get down to the swearing in or the parade itself, but I did manage to get a shot of Obama's motorcade, some of the crowds and a few of the presumably thousands of pieces of unofficial merchandise for sale throughout the city.

A few more pictures can be found on Flickr, including a shot of boxing promotor Don King (who, not surprisingly, wasn't shy about his allegiances).

Wowzers, Marty! Great stuff - and such a great experience for you, I'm sure. I especially like your photo of The Boss (of course)!

Thanks, Mary! It was definitely an amazing experience to be around here all weekend. DC has never been so energetic, that's for sure.

By the way, I saw The Boss on Monday night just around the corner from my apartment. I had my camera and everything, but couldn't get a shot of him in time (even though he was walking right towards me). Bah!
