Presidential Cupcakes at the SAAM

On Saturday afternoon, visitors to the Smithsonian American Art Museum in DC were treated -- literally -- to a very unique exhibit. To celebrate Obama's recent Inauguration, Lincoln's 200th birthday, President's Day weekend and, of course, Valentine's Day, a local artist / baker named Zilly Rosen created a portrait of the two Presidents using over 5,600 cupcakes.

The installation was on display from noon to five, at which point everyone was invited to "de-install" the piece by scarfing down the sugary treats. It was quite the scene.
