Cooking with MJLphoto: spaghetti alla carbonara

When studying in Rome in the spring of 2001, I fell in love rather quickly with spaghetti alla carbonara, so much so that I ordered it nearly everywhere we went. Part of the appeal, obviously, was the fact that bacon is one of the main ingredients. This was the first attempt at making it at home, and I have to be honest, it turned out pretty well.

In no particular order, the ingredients are eggs, pasta (in this case multi-grain spaghetti), bacon, garlic, parsley, salt, pepper and olive oil. I took the liberty of adding chicken to the mix, which, while it threw off the ratio of flavors and consistency, did make it that much more of a well-rounded meal.
