Washington Kastles World Team Tennis

Earlier tonight I had the pleasure of shooting a Washington Kastles tennis match at the City Center in DC (across the parking lot from the Trapeze School, actually). The experience was great -- I don't do sports often -- but it was definitely harder than I thought it would be.

I had some focusing issues -- the camera... not me, smart guy -- throughout the evening, so a lot of the shots weren't quite as crisp as I was hoping they'd be. When I shoot the Legg Mason final next month, I'll probably step it up and rent a larger, quicker (reaction-wise) lens. What I was working with just wasn't really cutting it.

Below are a few shots and, as always, some more can be found on Flickr.

And oh, by the way... yes, that's Anna Kournikova. She didn't play (something about a hurt wrist), but she did an interview or three, hit a few balls into the crowd and was generally a good sport. Her and I share a birthday -- doesn't that make me special by association?
