Legg Mason Tennis Classic Final

Earlier today I made my way over to the H.G. Fitzgerald Tennis Center for the finals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, DC's annual ATP Tour stop. The finals featured Andy Roddick -- 3-time champion of the event -- vs. Juan Martin del Potro, last year's winner.

After taking the first set relatively easily (6-3), No. 1 seed Roddick allowed the No. 2 seeded Argentinian to climb back in, make things interesting and force a 3rd and final set. The third set was a spectacle all its own, as the two traded big serves and blistering ground strokes in what ultimately came down to a final tie-breaker. Despite Roddick evening things up 6-6 after trailing 6-4, del Potro proved too much to handle in the tie-break, winning it and, in turn, the championship.

It was a great day of tennis in our Nation's capital, even if it was incredibly hot (I heard someone say the temperature on the court was about 110 degrees).

The following pictures were taken for DCist.
